Scholarship Application

Two students will receive a 1,000 USD scholarship to offset program costs. Deadline to apply: March 29, 2005.

At Phoenix College we have created a Study Abroad Program that focuses on the artistic beauty of Ireland. This summer, from May 17th through June 7th*, participants will have a unique opportunity to travel to Ireland with knowledgeable guides in an affordable Study Abroad program that celebrates the best of Irish culture, music, and art.

Our program focuses on the best of Irish art and history and included visits to Trinity College, Dublin, Christchurch Cathedral, Clonmacnoise/Kerry Cork and more. We will be based in the centre of the Irish midlands in County Offaly, home to historic Charleville Castle.

*Dates are approximate and actual dates will be posted when travel arrangements have been finalized.

Here in the geographic centre of Ireland we establish ourselves for classes and excursions. With Charleville Castle as the base of operations, we are given full and complete access to a working castle as students find countless possibilities for creative flow as they paint, draw, photograph, or video the lush primordial forest and 2,000 surrounding acres.

Educational side trips to Clonmacnoise (the site of the standing crosses and beginning of Christianity in Ireland); the bog lands; Dublin city; with with free travel and exploration days allow participants to see and experience the real Ireland - and still return to their paid accommodations each evening.

Students will also have the opportunity to esplore the western coast of Ireland including County Kerry, County Cork, Galway, Laninch, the Cliffs of Moher and more on a four day guided tour with overnight accomodations that is included in the program.
