"Literary and popular, nostalgic and dynamic, Dublin is always warm in its welcome. Open your heart and welcome its soul"

Dublin then....
The name of the capital of Ireland is as appropriate now as when it was first bestowed some two thousand years ago. It is a compound of two Gaelic words (Dubh-linn) which signify "the black pool." The waters of the Liffey were then, and are still, tinged a deep brown by a subterranean peat bog, which underlies the foundations of the city and forms the bed of the river. The volume of the stream is here increased by the Dodder, Tolka and some other tributaries, so that it becomes wide and deep enough to accommodate sea-going vessels. This harbour was the "black pool," which the ancient Irish saw and named.

Dublin now....
Dublin in recent years has undoubtedly become one of the most popular cities in the world with good reason. Since its beginning around 988AD it has accommodated many diverse nationalities from the Vikings to the English invaders to the sailors, traders, artists and writers who settled and lived here over the centuries.
With a deserved reputation as a great historical site, the modern
city has undergone a resurrgence in popularity partly due to a forward-looking
government which has encouraged the proliferation of digital media,
animation, software and computer design and development companies.
The Irish music scene has also added to the city's popularity and
many modern and traditional Irish bands call Dublin home. The Temple
Bar area of Dublin has become a magnet for people seeking the cultural
and musical pulse of the city.

And Finally....
"Let Erin remember the days of old
Ere her faithless sons betrayed her,
When Malachi wore the collar of gold
That he won from the proud invader."
