A mixed fraction consists of a whole number and a fraction together.

An improper fraction is a fraction in which the numerator is greater than the denominator.

Improper fractions can be expressed as mixed fractions using division.
To change a fraction from improper to mixed:
- Divide the denominator into the numerator.
- Put the remainder over the denominator.
- Write the mixed fraction as the division result and the remainder over the denominator

Mixed fractions can be expressed as improper fractions.
To change a fraction from mixed to improper:
- Multiply the denominator and the whole number.
- Add the numerator to the product from Step 1.
- Write the result from Step 2 over the denominator
