MINUTES

HLC CRITERION ONE MEETING

TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2005

Attendance: Judy Boschult, Mary Davison, Kathy Green, Liz Ligon, Adriana Loera, Linda Garcia, Brent Jameson, Diana Martinez (representing Michael Hubbs), Elizabeth Saliba, Denny Sheehan.

The meeting came to order at 1:35 p.m.
The chairperson distributed minutes from the Feb. 15 meeting as well as revisions of Core Component 1C.

Discussion followed regarding clarifying examples of evidence for 1C, with important comments from committee members.

Discussion then focused on 1B. Committee members discussed what "diversity" of PC's learners encompasses, including these: the senior population (gerontology students) first generation learners, at risk students, students of varying levels of ability. As a result, the group developed the following for use in Core component 1B:

1) Diversity - among these
i) International Student Center (Judy will continue work on this)
ii) Special Services (Kathy Green will work on this)

2) Other Constituencies
i) CTE - Custom Training and Education
ii) Area high schools (Wilbert Nelson has information on this)
iii) Wellness Maricopa (Liz Ligon will work on this)
iv) Transfer Center (Diana Martinez indicated that Michael Hubbs' area would be willing to provide information on this)

3) Greater Societies
i) Healthier Phoenix Initiative (Liz Ligon will work on this)
ii) Baccalaureate degrees (Mary Davison will work on this)

People working on those outline areas can send their information to Judy Boschult via e-mail or campus mail.

Last, some discussion followed regarding Core Component 1E, "The organization upholds and protects its integrity." Liz Ligon and Mary Davison agreed to work on a rough outline for this component.

Next meeting Tuesday, March 22, 2005.

The meeting adjourned at 3:01 p.m.
