The PC Support Project is designed to assist single parents who are unable to obtain alternative funding. These high school graduates have shown academic success and the ability to overcome numerous obstacles. They are motivated, intelligent, and gifted. This program provides academic, financial, and personal support to many students who remarkably balance a full- or part-time academic schedule with full-time parental responsibilities. In addition, PC Support students receive constant support from the counseling department.
Project Success is designed to retain students who would otherwise not continue their educational goals due to financial hardship. The Phoenix College Financial Aid Office identifies potential program participants who have been denied federal financial assistance for any one of the following reasons: 1. They do not meet ability to benefit guidelines. 2. Have problems with citizenship
or Social Security Number information, or 3. Have chosen a training curriculum which is not approved for aid. These students are referred to the program because they completed the admission process and enrolled at Phoenix College establishing a schedule of classes but lacked financial resources to remain enrolled and continue their educational goals. Guidance and mentoring are provided to prevent these students from abandoning their studies. Students are required to work closely with a counselor to solve the problems that prevented them from qualifying for federal financial assistance. Counselors also work with students to identify academic support strategies to help further their educational goals and monitor students' progress.
