BRIEF DESCRIPTION

ADULT EDUCATION

To assist the Coordinator of the Adult Education Program with planning and implementation.

ASSESSMENT (Critical Thinking, Developmental Ed, ESL, Numeracy, Occupational Outcomes, Oral Presentation, Team Building, Writing)

To continue development and implementation of the college assessment plan.

BUDGET

To provide recommendations to the President on budget appropriations for all college programs and departments.  This Committee seating begins in January and runs through December of next academic year.  If needed, Budget meetings will be held weekly.  All members of this committee must also commit to attend the campus-wide planning forums.

CAMPUS TECHNOLOGY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CTC)

To recommend to the Phoenix College Leadership Council and College Administration campus policies regarding online instructional standards, web page policies and standards, hardware standards, supported software, and student, faculty, and staff access issues.  The CTC is a combination of the former Technology, Ocotillo, and Web Corp committees.

COMMENCEMENT

To plan and coordinate the commencement activities, including the program, music, security, and scheduling of graduates.

CURRICULUM

To review and analyze all college curriculum proposals, including new course/programs, course modifications, course deletions, and new occupational certificates and degrees.  The Committee meets once a month to react and vote on proposed requests.  Meetings are generally held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.

DISTINGUISHED TEACHING AWARD

Advertises the availability of the Distinguished Teaching Award and seeks nominations; evaluates qualified nominees on the basis of pre-established criteria; selects the award recipient(s) from the finalists; presents the Distinguished Teaching Award at Graduation to the recipient.

FINANCIAL AID

To assist in the review and development of policies and procedures that directly impact student access to financial aid, including student appeals regarding exceptions to required federal policies.

FINE ARTS

To provide visual artwork that contributes to the aesthetic quality of PC buildings and grounds and to the sense of identity of the institution and its community.


INTERNATIONAL ED

To address issues of multiculturalism and internationalization at PC in an academic environment.  This may include developing a plan for "internationalizing the campus" which would include educational seminars/ workshops on international issues and involvement in developing programs/activities related to

multiculturalism or international opportunities.

PC GREEN

To educate the PC community regarding environmentally responsible behaviors.  To make recommendations to Administration regarding the environmentally responsible purchase, use and disposal of campus resources and products.

RETENTION

To coordinate cross-campus retention efforts.

SAFETY/ACCESS/ADA

To provide recommendations and oversee college activities with respect to safety issues and accessibility for individuals with disabilities, including establishing policies relating to the development and maintenance of a safe working environment and in meeting the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

To oversee the staff development program of the college.  Responsibilities include setting priorities, identifying colleagues to lead initiatives, coordinating with District initiatives/programs, and developing cross-college collaborations that promote effective delivery of instruction and services to students and the community.

STAFFING

The Staffing Committee reviews, ranks and recommends department requests for residential, tenure-track faculty to the college president based upon increases/decreases in FTSE/FTTE data and other specific data. This committee is seated in January and serves during the Spring and Fall semesters. A four-year commitment to serving on this committee is expected.

STUDENT-ATHLETIC SCHOLASTIC SUCCESS (SASS)

Designed to enhance the success of the student athlete, Advisors will meet with the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics and other SASS Advisors regularly.  The SASS Advisor will be assigned to a specific team and work with the team and participants throughout the academic year as needed.  The Advisor acts as a liaison and mentor to the student athlete.  This committee requires a commitment to be on campus and accessible to students regularly during afternoon/evening hours.

TRAVEL

      To allocate campus travel monies to faculty members and to approve/disapprove the funding of faculty travel requests.

WELLNESS

      To develop and provide wellness related programs and services to students, the community, and employees of PC.

OTHER ASSIGNMENTS

     

LEARNING CENTER - 1 hour each week

      To assist students in study practices and specific course content as needed.

STUDENT CLUB ADVISOR

      To work with the Dean of Student Development Services and the Director of Student Activities to serve as an advisor to a designated student club.
