HLC Criterion 3 Meeting Notes

August 30, 2004

            The HLC Criterion 3 Subcommittee met August 30, 2004.  In attendance were Mike Mitchell, Chair;  Joy Fitzpatrick; Kristin Anderson; John Arle; Geof Eroe; Adriana Loera; Ofelia Canez;  Pam Rogers; Sharon Halpern; Brent Jamison, Gileana Raheem, Julia Carrillo; and Don Richardson. 

Mike began the meeting by welcoming everyone back and inviting new members to introduce themselves:  Sharon Halpern, Associate Dean of Occupational Programs; Gileana Raheem, student; and Julia Carrillo, MAT.  Kory Merkel has asked to be excused from the committee, but she has volunteered to serve as a resource person.

                Mike reviewed the committee charge, especially 3C which was re-captured on the boards.  (See April 5, 2004 minutes for the original work of the committee.)

            Mike led the committee in reviewing 3C and assigning duties to the members.  We are looking for evidence that the results of assessment led to changes.

            The advising bullet will probably need an explanation of the relationship/linkage that prevails among advisement, counseling, and testing.  Mike will follow up on this.

            Two of the bullets for 3C were deferred until the next meeting (September 20 at 2:30).
