MISSION STATEMENT

The Phoenix College Biology Department is committed to providing relevant and current biology instruction to each student.Through the use of current instructional and scientific technology and equipment, we strive to ensure that biology students get an up-to-date scentific experience. We endeavor to employ biological scientists as faculty with education and experience in the biological sciences

The Phoenix College Biology Department also is committed to being available and accessible to students. Phoenix College biology students are diverse in cultural backgrounds, learning styles, and previous science education.Our students have varied goals for taking biology:some will be science majors, others will enroll in allied health programs, and still others are fulfilling general education requirements. Many of our students are working adults with families, and must balance school with other life responsibilities. We strive to reach each of these students to ensure that they can participate in college.

GOALS STATEMENT

Our goals as biological science educators is to serve Phoenix College biology students by:
1) Facilitating and maintaining a friendly student environment through faculty accessibility.
2) Developing and maintaining currency and relevancy in course content, including instructional delivery methods and technologies.
3) Integrating the scientific process into each biology course offering.
4) Maintaining an active role in biology course and program articulation, transferability, and curriculum issues within the state.
In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, we will understand only what we are taught.
