APPLIED BUSINESS DEPARTMENT
March 1995 Vision: To maintain and promote standards of excellence and innovation in curriculum and teaching methods to best meet the social, cultural, economic, and technological needs of students in an emerging competitive global economy. Mission: To create a superior environment (facilities, equipment, curriculum, instruction, and services) conducive for students to excel in the educational process. To have a dedicated and committed staff, who have earned the respect, confidence, and loyalty of each other and student; and who will lead students in becoming active participants in their own educational process and in developing self-confidence in themselves and their abilities. Goals: 1. To provide a superior educational experience for students to meet changing needs of students and the business community. 2. Recruit and maintain qualified faculty who promote standards of excellence and innovation in curriculum and teaching methods to lead students in becoming responsible employees. 3. Prepare students to communicate effectively in the workplace. 4. Strengthen recruitment and retention strategies for student success among all groups of our diverse student population and provide opportunities for life-long learning. 5. Strengthen the role of the Applied Business Department as an intellectual and cultural resource to the business community. 6. Develop and maintain relationships with the business community such as schools, universities, public and private agencies, advisory committees, and other organizations in support of economic development of the community. 7.
