Counseling Assessment Practices
Aside from our student intake forms which provide demographic information
for us to analyze the students' use of the Counseling Department and
Career Center,
both areas conduct periodic usage and student satisfaction type surveys.
The Counseling Department uses a department feedback form which we
are revising to get at students' learning outcomes from receiving
counseling services. The transformation to a learning outcomes
survey is still in development. Our satisfaction survey isn't
being used this year because of the revision.
In the Career Center,
we administer satisfaction surveys for the employers and the students
who attend the career fairs. The student intake survey asks
5 brief questions about students' purpose for attending and their
preparation for attending the fair. The student evaluation form
asks the students what they learned from the career fair experience,
what they might need help with , and an evaluation
of their preparation for the fair. They are short and easy to
complete because the "traffic" is so mobile, moving in between
classes, etc. On the employer end, we administer an intake form
to get a sense of the types of business
they represent, the types and number of jobs they currently have open,
etc. After the fair, employers complete an evaluation of the
career fair; it is a satisfaction survey of the fair, the facilities,
the quality of the student contacts, etc.
All data form whatever source is analyzed and we use it to try to
make improvements for services when possible.
