Meeting Minutes

November 22, 2004

Present: Ann, Betsy, Jill, Ronnie, Dennis, Wilbert, Janet, John (for Michael H.), Mike, Danny, Bonnie

Handed out the minutes from the last meeting and a handout with some ideas and questions for 2B.

Is our history of financial resource development and investment forward to ensure educational quality? (investments in facilitites, technology, faculty development, learning support services).

Financial Resources:

  • Affecting building – affects FTSE which can then affect operational dollars.
  • Bond money, review by District Office.

Facilities:

  • New bond – operational dollars for new buildings, custodial, etc., District Facilities Planning and Developing looks at this and then addresses and reviews them, returning with a schedule of what will be done first, new structures or renovating. Request order of renovation, buildings J&K first, C building second. There is a process to doing this.
  • Flexible enough to meet unanticipated needs.
  • NONINSTRUCTIONAL EVENTS – facilities, wear and tear

Human Resources:

  • Cleaning of classrooms
  • Event staff  - don’t have a staff designated for these events, so M&O is used for this, therefore they don’t have the necessary time needed to get everything cleaned.
  • Opportunity for improvement – moral is low in this case
  • Drafting a new maintenance plan to address these issues
  • Looking at eternal persons for painting, etc.
  • Fees – pay for overtime
  • NEED TO DECIDE WHICH EVENTS WE WILL ACCEPT, look at not having any events over 3 day holidays – Evaluate external or co-sponsored events.
  • NONINSTRUCTIONAL EVENTS – CUSTODIAL, M&O, MEDIA STAFFING (11 months- 400 events)
  • Square footage per person, recommendation for amount of footage per person, does not meet standard.
  • Loman-will interview Sandra Wells, from LTD and someone from the District Office
  • Creative Pathways
  • FIPP

Service Excellence:

  • Teresa Miller, advising, is chair of this committee, invite to present to the group for 15 minutes.
  • Rounding – not sure what the intent of this is, concept vs. implementation
    • Feels fake, phony,
    • History of mistrust
    • Didn’t get communicated well

From the CCSSE survey, there is a question regarding the level of resources available to our students. From the survey we rated above the national average. This might be an interesting tidbit to add as a chart or quote.

Academic Resources:

  1. Media Services
  2. Computer labs, carts
  3. Tutoring – Math/Science Center (Title V)
  4. Family Care and Head Start – five years in the new facilities (Ronnie researched this)
  5. Library Resources – online resources, full lab, virtual reference services
  6. Honors

The academic resources that Paradise Valley notes and how we are touching the same issues:

  • Student Services (mentioning in 2A – Advisement and Testing, Financial Aid, Technology, changes in processes)
  • Student Life
  • Athletics (SASS-Cindy Cloud)
  • Media

Next meeting is: December 6th, 3:00p.m.
