MINUTES HLC CRITERION ONE MEETING

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2005

Attendance: Judy Boschult, Mary Davison, Kathy Green, Brent Jameson, Adriana, Loera, Sylvia Phillips, Denny Sheehan.

The meeting came to order at 1:40 p.m.

Denny shared with the committee the timeline Nancy Matte presented at the Criterion Chair/Writers’ January retreat. Members discussed due dates and work needed to meet the outlined deadlines.

The members then looked at a draft of Core component 1 C (curriculum).Discussion followed regarding wording needing clarification. Also discussed was the need for including some tables and graphs to add some visual effect to the draft. Judy noted the comments and would make needed changes before forwarding the draft to Nancy Matte.

Next the members looked at a draft outline for Core Component 1 D (the Phoenix College International Center).  Discussion followed along with suggestions for changes.  Judy noted those and will make the needed changes before forwarding that draft  to Nancy Matte.

Kathy Green then shared information on the Customized Training Institute.  Some discussion followed and was expected to continue at the February 15 meeting.

Mary Davison distributed information on technology.  Members agreed to read through that and return next meeting with comments, etc.

Denny then discussed the handout listing Dr. Solley’s ten goals for Phoenix College.  Discussion followed those regarding possibly tying those into Criterion One work.  Also discussed was the college mission statement, the possible need to revisit/rewrite that, noting that the word learning is not used anywhere in the current college mission statement.

The meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m.

Next meeting: Tuesday, February 15, 2005, 1:30 p.m.
