The Business Department provides students who are currently taking Business classes with unlimited access to a computer lab located in room B301. This facility is available to students currently enrolled in business courses that require the use of computers and appropriate application software.

Lab Policies

The policies below explain use of the Business Lab. If a Business student violates any of the policies, a three-strike rule will be enforced. After the third violation, the student's privilege to use the lab will be revoked for the entire semester.

1. Only students enrolled in Business classes may use the Businesopen lab. A current Phoenix College student ID is required for open lab use. Appropriate course registration will be verified.

2. Lab use is intended only for the completion of course work. Personal work of any kind is not allowed.

3. No food or drinks are permitted at any time in the labs. Tables are available outside the labs for placing drinks and other items that are not permitted.

4. Dependant children are not allowed in the lab. The lab is only for the use of registered business students.

5. In keeping with a professional atmosphere, please speak in a soft voice and avoid loud socializing. In addition, help keep the lab clean and free from litter. 6. Do not attempt to fix or adjust the computer systems or printers. If your machine is malfunctioning, please ask any lab assistant or faculty that is on duty for assistance.

7. Students may only use application software that is expressly required by a course assignment.

8. Students may not store files on or delete files from the machine's hard disk.

9. Students may not install or uninstall any application software at any time.

10. Students may not copy computer files or application software from any computer system. It is illegal.

11. Students may not reconfigure system or application settings. If the system needs resetting, please request assistance from a lab assistant or faculty on duty. Do not alter the windows desktop settings.

12. Students may not play any computer games.

13. Cell phone use is not permitted in the lab. Leave the lab when you receive a call and complete your conversation before returning to the lab.

14. Students may only use the Internet for course-related research purposes. Visiting XXX-rated sites, and participating in chat rooms is strictly prohibited.

15. The role of the lab assistant is to monitor student usage of the lab, assist students in using the computer systems, troubleshoot and repair hardware problems, and make sure the lab is operational. It is not the role of the lab assistant to provide in-depth course instruction or one-on-one tutoring. If you are having trouble with a course assignment, you must seek help from the faculty on duty or from the instructor of your course.

16. The lab is provided to support learning by giving the students access to computer systems and application software appropriate to their particular course of study. Any other use of the lab is strictly prohibited.
