Rule #15 Commas and Addresses

 

Rule: Use a comma between the city and state in an address.

Example: Phoenix, Arizona

Writing Tip: Don't write a comma between the state and the zip code.

Example: Phoenix, Arizona 85243

Rule: Use a comma after each name of a specific place in a sentence.

Example: He went to Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, in 1972.
