Baseball: Scottsdale Places Second at NJCAA D2 National Championships — Parkland defeated Scottsdale 11-3 to capture the NJCAA Division 2 National Championship. | more |

Baseball: Central Falls in Western District Title Game — Central Arizona fell one game short of a trip to the NJCAA Division 1 World Series with 11-4 and 10-7 lossed to Western nevada. The Vaqueros made the title games by defeating College of Southern Idaho 11-1 and Northeastern Colorado 25-2.

Softball: Yavapai Wins NJCAA D1 National Championship — Yavapai captured the 2009 NJCAA Division I National Championship with a 2-1 victory over Wallace State/Hanceville. Jenna Rodriguez allowed just three hits and struck out four in route to the victory. Brittany Tuck's 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning sealed the come-from-behiind victory. | more |

Baseball: Central Arizona Shocks #2 Yavapai — Yavapai, the #1 seed in Region I Division 1 and #2 ranked nationally, was upset as Central Arizona swept the best of three series to capture the Region Championship. Central, which placed second at the JUCO World Series last year, will play for the chance at another trip to the nationals when it travel;s to Reno, NV, fr the Western District Tournament. Softball: PC's Goodman Repeats, Western's Shamblin Tabbed Top Coach — Phoenix College's Lacy Goodman has been selected the NJCAA Region I Softball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Coach Angel Shamblin is the Region I Coach of the Year after leading Arizona Western to a 35-12-1 record. Yavapai dominated the NJCAA All-Region I Division 1 Team with five selections, while #1 ranked Phoenix placed seven on the Division 2 Team. | All-NJCAA Region I Teams |
