ACCAC Places Four on
NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball All-American Squads
Tehani Goldsmith of Yavapai and Tenaya Watson
of Central Arizona both earned NJCAA Division I First Team
All-American honors. Arizona Western's Yohanna Morton and
Central's Ashley Sours were both selected to the Third Team.

Named to NJCAA Division 2 Women's Basketball All-American
Second Team Pima's Jessie
Ingraham and Phoenix' Jessica McDonald were both selected
to the NJCAA Division 2 All-American Second Team.
Central Shocked in
Finals The last game of
the 2007-08 season proved to be the first loss for Central
Arizona (34-1) as it fell 62-61 in the NJCAA Division 1 National
Championship Game to Gulf Coast Community College (36-1).
Central was not challenged in the tourney until the final
game, defeating Georgia Perimeter College 87-34, Midland College
72-59, and Barton County CC 78-56. Central Arizona's Ashley
Sours, Tenaya Watson and Lonnie Sanchez were all selected
to the All-Tournament squad.
Mesa Falls Out of NJCAA
D2 Championships Mesa's
2007-08 season came to an end with a 70-56 loss to Garrett
College in the consolation bracket of the 2008 NJCAA Division
2 National Championship Tournament.
Illinois Central Tops
Mesa in NJCAA D2 Women's Opener Illinois
Central (25-8), the #5 National seed, defeated Mesa 70-62
in the opening round of the 2008 NJCAA Division 2 Women's
National Basketball Championships. Mesa, which trailed 31-17
at halftime, responded to the pour opening 20 minutes by outscoring
Illinois Central 45-39 in the second half. Mesa will now play
Garrett College in the consolation bracket on Thursday morning.
Central Arizona Smokes
Georgia Perimeter in NJCAA Tourney Central
Arizona opened defense of its 2007 National Championship with
an 87-34 drubbing of Georgia Perimeter College in the opening
round of the 2008 NJCAA Division 1 National Championship Tournament.
Ashley Sours paced Central with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Central will face the winner of the Trinity Valley CC and
Midland College matchup on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CST).
Central Arizona Gives
Laursen One Final Region Championship Hall
of Fame Coach Lin Laursen received another farewell present
from her 2007-08 squad on Friday as Central Arizona defeated
Yavapai 112-62 for the NJCAA Region I Division 1 Championship.
Laursen's undefeated and top ranked Central squad will now
travel to the NJCAA National Championships as the Vaqueras
look to give the retiring Laursen her fourth National title.

Yavapai's Tehani Goldsmith and Central Arizona's
Tenaya Watson are the 2008 ACCAC Co-Players of the Year. Watson,
who has helped Central to the nation's #1 ranking and undefeated
season so far, was also selected the ACCAC Freshman of the
Year while her coach Lin Laursen is the \ACCAC Coach of the

Named NJCAA Player of the Week Shayla
Washington of Scottsdale has been named the NJCAA Division
II National Player of the Week for the week ending February
17th. Washington helped SCC to a pair of victories on the
week with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Arizona Western
and 15 points and 19 boards against Chandler-Gilbert.

National Player of the Week Phoenix
College's Jessica McDonald earned the NJCAA Division II National
Player of the Week for the week ending February 10th. McDonald
posted 20 points, 21 rebounds and 12 assists in a win over
South Mountain and then tallied 21 points and 12 boards ina
victory over Chandler-Gilbert..

Western's Yohanna Morton averaged 24 points in two games this

National Player of te Week for the week ending January 20,
2008. Watson posted 27 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists
in a win over Scottsdale. She then had 22 points, 12 boards
and nine assists in a victory over Phoenix.

NJCAA Honors Five ACCAC
Women's Basketball Players as All-Americans
Central Arizona freshman Heather Oliver
was one of two players in the nation selected First Team NJCAA
Division I All-American. Also selected to the Division I All-American
squads were Yavapai's Antoinette Reed and Arizona Western's
Kim Etol. Chandler-Gilbert's Sarah Hays was selected to the
NJCAA Division II First Team All-American Team , while Phoenix
College's Linda Ubadigbo was a Second Team honoree.

Season #2 in Nation Central
Arizona's bid for another National Championship fell one victory
short as the Vaqueros fell to Odessa (TX) College 73-50 in
the Championship Game of the NJCAA Division I Tournament.
