Yavapai's Blanks Selected Easton Defensive Player of the Year — Yavapai freshman Kyle Blanks, a native of Moriarty, NM, has been named the NJCAA Division I Easton Defensive Player of the Year. Blanks was also selected as a Second Team All-American after leading the ACCAC in batting (.440), hits (85), doubles (25), RBI (47), and posting the second most homeruns (8). Teammate Milton Loo, a freshman from Molokai, HI, was named Honorable Mention All-American. Loo was second in the ACCAC with a .404 batting average, fourth in runs with 45, and fifth in steals with 21. | Division I All-American Teams |

Mesa's Bryan Miller Tabbed All-American — Mesa freshman Bryan Miller earned NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American honors aftre batting .373 on the season. In addition to having the fifth highest batting average in the ACCAC, Miller also ranked third in runs scored (45) and hits (65) and fourth in double (17). | Division II All-American Teams |

Finalists Knock Mesa from NJCAA DII JC World Series — Mesa drew some tough luck games at the NJCAA Division II Junior College World Series, going 1-2 before being eliminated. Mesa opened with a 6-4 10-inning loss to eventual National Champion Grand Rapids (MI) CC, defeated Madison (WI) Area Technical College 8-6, and then fell 10-3 to eventual tournament runer-up Parkland (IL) College. | more |

South Mountain Battles Before Falling at NJCAA DI World Series — South Mountain, the Region I and Western Disrict Champions, lost to Texarkana (TX) College 8-7 in the opening game of the double elimination NJCAA Division I Junior College World Series. South Mountain responded with 9-4 and 11-8 victories over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Hutchinson (KS) CC, respectively. SMCC then dropped a tough 13-12 decision to Iowa Western CC to be knocked from the tourney. South Mountain placed three players on the All-Tournament team -- infielder Isiah Ka'aihue, outfielder Joshua Tarnow and designated hitter Luiz Nieblas. | more |

Mesa Advances to NJCAA Division II World Series — Mesa (42-21) defeated Western Oklahoma State CC 18-10 to take home the District Championship and advance to the NJCAA Division II World Series. | more |

South Mountain Wins District, Advances to NJCAA DI College World Series — South Mountain captured the 2005 Western District Championship with a 7-4 victory in the title game against Lamar CC. South Mountain defeated Dixie State 2-1 in the opener and then defeated Lamar 6-2 and 7-4 to earn the title and advance to the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, CO, May 28th to June 4th. South Mountain Captures DI Region Championship — South Mountain captured game two 8-7 to win the NJCAA Region 1 Division I Championship with a sweep of the first two games in the best of three series. South Mountain will now host the District Championships on May 19-21. The District Champion will earn a bid to the Division I Junior College World Series. | more |

South Mountain Takes Series Lead Over Cochise — South Mountain continued to win on the road with a 15-5 victory over Mesa in game one of a three-game series for the NJCAA Region 1 Division I Championship. | more |

Mesa Captures Region 1 DII Crown — After dropping game on e16-0, Mesa won consecutive games 10-3 and 8-5 to capture the 2005 NJCAA Region 1 Division II Championship. Mesa advances to te District Tournament for a chance to play for a spot in the NJCAA DII World Series.

South Mountain, Cochise Advance to Finals After Upsets — South Mountain and Cochise each recoreded upset victories in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 1 Division I Playoffs to advance to the Championship Round. South Mountain traveled to Yavapai and took the series in three games -- 9-8, 8-10, and 11-1. Cochise also took a road victory as it defeated Pima in three games -- 0-8, 8-5 and 9-8 in 10 innings. The best-of-three Championship series will be played at Cochise beginning Thursday, May 12th. | more |

Scottsdale Grabs Series Lead with Huge Win — Scottsdale took a 1-0 lead in the NJCAA Region 1 Division II Playoffs with a big 16-0 victory over Mesa. Yavapai, Pima to Host NJCAA Region 1 Division I Playoffs — Yavapai (44-12, 30-8), winners of the Cactus Division of the ACCAC, will host South Mountain (39-14, 25-13) while Pima (33-21, 23-15), winners of the Copper Division, will host Cochise (43-13, 29-9) in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 1 Division I Tournament. Both series will be the best of three games beginning at 2:00 p.m. on May 5th. The winners of the opening round will play a best of three series begining May 12 for the Championship and the right to advance to the NJCAA National Championships. | more |

Scottsdale, Mesa to Battle for NJCAA Division II Title — The best of three series for the NJCAA Division II Championship begins May 5th at 3:00 p.m. when Mesa (37-19, 23-15) host Scottsdale (21-35, 13-25). The two programs split their four games this season, Scottsdale sweeping the first doubleheader 10-9 and 4-0 and Mesa returning the favor 5-3 and 5-0 just this past week. | more |

The Roughrider were rewarded for their great season as Kyle Blanks was named the 2005 ACCAC Player of the Year and Head Coach Sky Smeltzer has earned Coach of the Year honors.
