7. Continue to "wipe and paint" until all the teeth have been treated. Dental floss can be used to ensure that the varnish reaches interproximal areas. The varnish will set upon contact with saliva. Try to keep a thin, even film during application. Since the varnish is viscous and sticky, avoid touching the child's lips or face with the applicator. It may be useful to apply petroleum jelly or lip balm prior to treatment.
