Scottsdale Blast L.B. Wallace in NJCAA D2 Opener — In the opening game of the 2009 NJCAA Division 2 College World Series for the Artichokes, Scottsdale scored an easy 15-4 victory. Brett Nicholas hit a pair of homers and posted seven RBI for Scottsdale in the victory. The Artichokes will play the winner of the LSU Eunice-Western OK State College contest on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (CST). | more |

Central Falls in Western District Title Game — Central Arizona fell one game short of a trip to the NJCAA Division 1 World Series with 11-4 and 10-7 lossed to Western nevada. The Vaqueros made the title games by defeating College of Southern Idaho 11-1 and Northeastern Colorado 25-2.

Central Arizona Shocks #2 Yavapai — Yavapai, the #1 seed in Region I Division 1 and #2 ranked nationally, was upset as Central Arizona swept the best of three series to capture the Region Championship. Central, which placed second at the JUCO World Series last year, will play for the chance at another trip to the nationals when it travels to Reno, NV, for the Western District Tournament.
