Information Literacy Assessment Committee
Notes from February 24, 2004 Meeting
2:30pm in L-129
Present: Ann Roselle (Chair), Linn Dowd, and Linda Offenberg.
Project SAILS
The committee reviewed the "Endorsement of Participation in Project
SAILS" that Ann presented to Brent Jameson. Ann reported that
Brent will contact Dean Tadano about the funds needed to participate
in Project SAILS,
a standardized test for information literacy. It was recommended that
Ann contact Phil Pepe about the cost of the critical thinking test.
Application deadline for Project SAILS is April 30, 2004.
Curriculum Map
The committee decided to seek information from Department Chairs in
order to identify courses that incorporate information literacy instruction.
Ann, with Linda's assistance, will create Excel grids to help Department
Chairs identify the courses. Ann will distribute the grids at the
April Department Chair meeting. It was recommended that Chairs be
given 3 weeks to complete the grids.
Next Meeting
No date was set for the next meeting. Committee members will use email
to continue communicating and planning. Committee goals this semester
include applying to Project SAILS and completing the curriculum map.
