Information Literacy Assessment Committee
Notes from December 8, 2003 Meeting
1:30pm in the Library Conference Room

Present: Ann Roselle (Chair), Linn Dowd, Michelle Dyer-Hurdon, Linda Offenberg, and Elizabeth Saliba.

Information Literacy Outcomes
The committee reviewed in detail the draft of the Information Literacy Competencies and Learning Objectives. Each objective was reviewed as to its appropriateness and its ability to be measured. A discussion of objectives and expectations of second year students compared to first year students also took place.

Curriculum Map
A draft outline of classes at PC where information literacy is taught was distributed. The committee will work on identifying courses that explicitly focus on information literacy skills, along with those classes that reinforce the skills.

This information will become useful as the committee moves into the stage of developing assessment tools, especially if assessment includes use of rubrics with class assignments and/or distribution of a standardized test to a sample of students who have taken certain classes.
