Board Report: Pam Rogers
Pam provided a summary hand out & AAHE handout on assessment.
Reminded everyone about the Assessment Forum April 19th @ EMCC.

UPDATE ON COMMITTEES:
Occupational: Presented by Chair Kristin Anderson
Occupational Steering Team will look at 2 new outcomes.
All matrices from 1st outcome statement are in R & D office for
evaluation/analysis.

Numeracy: Presented by Chair Kory Merkel
Committee will schedule workshop to rate samples collected SP '02.

Writing: Presented by Chair Mike Mitchell
Committee is in the "collection phase". All samples are being sent to the R & D
Office.

Oral Presentation: Presented by Chair Liz O'Brien
R & D has analyzed 30 samples. Results show 2/3 of the presentations have
been rated 5.0 (out of 8), which meets Outcome statement satisfactorily.

Team Building: No Report.

ESL: Presented by Chair Pam Rogers
Committee has scheduled next round of evaluations for May. The results from
Dec. '01 have not yet been analyzed by R & D office.

Developmental Ed: Presented by Chair Camilla Westenberg
Committee has met twice. Study Skills is area of focus - looked at other
campuses to see what "formal" programs exist in this area. MCLI and EMCC will
look for resources they can send the committee. This committee will look at
these resources to find one that will work as a pre-test. The committee does not
have representation from Counseling Dept. - Chair will pursue this.

Assessment Day
Reviewed technology needs of each outcome chair and the Presentation order.
The goals of Assessment Day are 1) to provide an update and 2) recruitment.

Other:
Discussion on "Assessment for Grades", "Performance Based Assessment",
"Compentency Based Assessment" - there's a need for faculty awareness in
these.
