STEERING TEAM MINUTES
Date: December 6, 2001
ATTENDANCE: Brent Jameson, Mike Mitchell, Liz O'Brien, Camilla Westenberg,
Jeremy Moreland, Dorothy Sisneros, Maria Enciso.

FEBRUARY BOARD WORK SESSION:
Brent presented the format/ schedule for this event.

UPDATE ON COMMITTEES:
OCCUPATIONAL: No report.
NUMERACY: No report.
WRITING: Presented by Chair Mike Mitchell.
12 courses and 43 students have been identified that meet criteria
set by committee. Committee would like 100 portfolios and will continue
to work towards this goal. Feb. 8th will conduct general info. session
for Instructors participating in portfolio assessment.
ORAL PRESENTATION: Presented by Chair Liz O'Brien
Steering Team had opportunity to look at evaluation form used by the
committee. This semester the committee rated 22 presentations from
4 different courses with 30 presentations pending. KUDOS to Julianne
in Media!
Upon completing the evaluation process, videos will be stored in the
Assessment Resource Room. Completed evaluations will go to I.R. for
analysis.
TEAM-BUILDING: Presented by Chair Dorothy Sisneros
The Team-Building Committee had the following question. What happens
after analysis of samples? What do we do with results? How will results
impact PC curriculum? Steering Team recommends Dean Tadano address
these questions at the next steering team meeting in January. It is
important for Steering Team members to have answers to these questions
prior to Assessment Day.
ESL: No report.
DEVELOPMENTAL ED: Presented by Chair Camilla Westenberg
The Developmental Ed Committee- Marianne Prather, Betsy Frank, Anne
Hodgkins, Cheryl Axtell, Ramona Shingler, Jennifer Salsburg, Rene
Delgado, Cindy Ortega, Wendy King
At the next meeting the committee will begin work on outcome statement.
CRITICAL THINKING: No report.
ASSESMENT DAY: Friday, February 8th, 12:00- 3:00 p.m.
The day will begin with lunch at noon, followed by a Welcome from
Dean Tadano and Brent Jameson at about 12:30, then each Outcome
Area Chair will speak (to the general assembly) for about 5 minutes.
President Gardea will then address the group and send every one
into the Breakout Sessions(by Outcome Area). Location pending.
