Team Minutes
Date: January 25, 2001
Attendance: Brent Jameson, Chairperson; Judy Boschult, Kristin Anderson,
Maria Enciso, Betsy Frank, Georgia Gudykunst, Kory Merkel, Liz O'Brien.
Assessment Day April 13th:
It suggested that we change the location from the Osborn Site to the
main campus and use larger classrooms for the outcome committees,
have lunch outside, and have each outcomes committee chair provide
a one-minute statement of committee purpose. The team supported this.
Staff Development Schedule:
It is important to recognize and include all outcome/program committees:
January 30th (Tues.), 1:30 PM - Writing workshop, Betsy Frank
February 2nd (Fri.), 12:30 PM - Numeracy workshop, Kory Merkel
Feb. 27th (Tues.), 2:00 PM - Workforce Readiness workshop, Kristen
Anderson
(Occupational)
March 27th (Tues.), 1:30 PM - Oral Presentation Skills workshop, Liz
O'Brien
April 3rd (Tues.), 1:30 PM - Team Building workshop, Dorothy Sisneros
To Be Determined - ESL Writing, Pam Rogers
Judy will check with Pam on when she would like to provide a workshop.
Each Outcome committee chair will review the rubrics or tools for
assessing their outcome area, work with faculty on what the rubric
involves, and how these might be embedded in coursework. The Occupational
and ESL committees will continue their outcomes work, focused on their
areas.
Judy and Brent drafted a flyer that will be sent to faculty as well
as by email. One flyer could list
all the outcome committees, and individual flyers for each outcome
workshop could be sent out too.
Staff Development and the Assessment Committees will sponsor these
workshops.
PC Presentation at Governing Board Feb. 13th:
Judy Boschult, Pam Rogers, Betsy Frank and Georgia Gudykunst will
present. Georgia will prepare the materials for the flip charts and
table display.
Assessment Statement:
Marian Tadano will include a general statement in the class schedule
to inform students that some of their course work may be reviewed
as part of the college's learning outcomes assessment program, and
reference the "Outcomes Statement" in the course catalogue
(MCCCD Common Polices Values section). The purpose is to inform students.
General Assessment Committee Meeting January 29th:
Brent Jameson has invited the liaisons (cc: dept. chairs). Maria Enciso
will provide a short training for the liaisons, based on what she
does as liaison for her department to help communicate and update
them on PC's assessment efforts. Georgia suggested it might be helpful
to have a resource folder for the liaisons so that they have all the
outcome statements, rubrics, etc. in one place for ease of reference.
Maria volunteered to start the list of items and Georgia will add
to it; the instructional office can make copies Monday morning.
Marian Tadano will talk about the need for obtaining student writing
and numeracy samples from across the disciplines (as appropriate),
and the assessment statement in the schedule, etc.
Future meetings of the General Assessment Committee: 2nd & 4th
Mondays, 2:30 PM.
Next Steering Team Meeting:
February 1st, 12 PM, Admin. Conference Room
Respectfully submitted,
Georgia Gudykunst
