Our Past
On September 13, 1920, Phoenix College officially opened its doors to eighteen aspiring students, forever changing the educational landscape, and workforce, of Phoenix. Our founders adopted a non-segregation policy, offering unparalleled access to all who sought to improve their lives through learning. A multicultural and diverse student population became one of our hallmarks.
As the Valley’s population exploded, Phoenix College met the needs of the community, and local businesses, through a robust curriculum. Over the past century, nearly one million students have attended PC. Many have gone on to complete professional certifications, and advanced degrees. Others have launched local businesses.
Phoenix College is dedicated to providing high-value, affordable education for Arizona residents. We continue to develop cutting-edge programs that are relevant to our community partners.
