PHILOSOPHY 101

AN INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY

INTRODUCTORY CONSIDERATIONS:

Because the principal mode of communication between students and the instructor will be the entries submitted by computer, the student's grade will be derived from the review of those entries.

In the following outline you will note 13 sets of questions designed to guide your writing of a 500 word entry dealing with the material addressed by each set of questions. Of the 13 possible entries each student is obliged to submit 11. If less than 11 entries are submitted, the deficiency will affect the student's grade substantially.

My preference is that each of us should send our entries back to the entire class, but I realize that there might be good reason for a student or for the instructor to address the individual and not the group. In the event that you submit an entry and want my reply to be private, just note that in your entry. Any posting of grades will be done privately.

To encourage a day by day participation in the course being offered, each student is required to submit the 500 word entry by the time that the class receives its new assignment. You will be advised of the relevant date with adequate anticipation.
