About the Grant

In Fall 2000, Phoenix College joined more then 100 colleges and universities nation wide when it was named a Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institution. The funding, in the form of a capacity building grant, is designed to strengthen existing college systems so they can better serve underrepresented minorities and law-income students.

Activity

Improve student success by integrating technology into learning assistance and classroom instruction

Objectives

  1. Ninety percent of faculty teaching developmental and gateway courses will utilize NovaNET or other computer software as an additional classroom tool.
  2. Among entering developmental students, college-wide, successful completion will increase by 15%, semester to semester persistence will increase by 10%, and year to year persistence will increase by 5% by September of 2005.
  3. Among ESL students who successfully complete advanced ESL and/or developmental course work, successful completion rates of college level courses will increase by 10%.
  4. The transfer rates among ethnic minority and/or low income students to 4 year institutions will increase by 10% by September of 2005.
