About the Grant
In Fall 2000, Phoenix College joined more then 100 colleges and universities
nation wide when it was named a Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institution.
The funding, in the form of a capacity building grant, is designed to
strengthen existing college systems so they can better serve underrepresented
minorities and law-income students.
Activity
Improve student success by integrating technology into learning assistance
and classroom instruction
Objectives
- Ninety percent of faculty teaching developmental and gateway courses
will utilize NovaNET or other computer software as an additional classroom
tool.
- Among entering developmental students, college-wide, successful completion
will increase by 15%, semester to semester persistence will increase
by 10%, and year to year persistence will increase by 5% by September
of 2005.
- Among ESL students who successfully complete advanced ESL and/or
developmental course work, successful completion rates of college level
courses will increase by 10%.
- The transfer rates among ethnic minority and/or low income students
to 4 year institutions will increase by 10% by September of 2005.
