Students Work Toward Goal of 1000 Registered Voters During a Two-Week Voter Registration Drive (PHOENIX, Arizona, Sept. 21, 2004) - With the election just weeks away, Phoenix College students and club members are encouraging their fellow students to get out and vote. Between now and October 4, the Student Life and Leadership Office is sponsoring a voter registration drive with New Voters Project, a national nonpartisan group. The New Voters Project targets 18-24 year-olds; however, Phoenix College hopes to register a total of 1000 new voters (regardless of age) during the drive. According to a flyer released
by Student Life and Leadership, "25 percent of all 18-to-24 year-olds
in Arizona voted in 2000, compared to 70 percent of 60-to-75 year olds." --Student
