Phoenix College Hosts the 3rd Annual Invaluable Medical Assistant Day - Oct. 23 WHAT: Phoenix College and the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers team up to offer the 3rd Annual Invaluable Medical Assistant Conference. Specially geared to the medical assistant, the conference not only provides CEUs, but it also allows for networking opportunities with employers from around the state. This year's topics include: ~ Medical assistant practice
rules and other legislative and news worthy updates that impact the medical
practice;
Saturday, Oct. 23 WHERE: Phoenix College - Osborn Campus The medical assistant (MA) is required to have 15 continuing education units (CEUs) per year to maintain their certification. Other than the two major, very expensive national conferences, there are limited CEU opportunities specifically for the MA. In 2002, the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers (AACHC) came to the Phoenix College Medical Assisting Program Director to discuss continuing education and update issues for the medical assistants in community health centers throughout the state. The outcome was that Phoenix College and AACHC collaboratively developed and held The Invaluable Medical Assistant all day conference at PC. The program was so successful that, when reported to the Medical Assisting Advisory Committee, they wanted to participate and open it to there employees. The 2003 conference was twice as large as 2002 with participation from the Mayo Clinic, John C. Lincoln Healthcare Systems, Maricopa Integrated Healthcare Systems and others.
