Accomplished Valley Author to Give Reading at Phoenix College

James Sallis, experienced author with an extensive collection of writing, will make a special appearance at Phoenix College to read selections from his work on Friday, Nov 7 beginning at 7 p.m.

This free reading is an opportunity for members of the community to meet Sallis and hear his remarkable written talent.

Sallis has been writing for almost 40 years and has published more than two dozen books as well as hundreds of stories, poems, essays, reviews and translations. Books include nine novels, multiple collections of stories, poems and essays, three volumes of musicology, an acclaimed biography of Chester Himes and a translation of Raymond Queneau’s novel, Saint Glinglin. His latest novel, Cypress Grove, was released this past Spring. He writes quarterly columns for The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and the literary web site Web Del Sol and contributes a monthly column to The Boston Globe.

In addition, he will join the Phoenix College Creative Writing Program by teaching Introduction to Creative Writing and Writing the Mystery Story during the Spring 2004 semester.
