College Celebrates International Education Week With Story Share Event & Peace Corps Recruiters
(PHOENIX, Ariz., Nov. 17, 2003) On a campus where more than 40 different languages are spoken and approximately 1,800 students represent countries other than the United States, the college campus is a central hub for those seeking international and cultural enrichment. As a true United Nations, Phoenix College is excited to present International Education Week activities. In 2000, the U.S. Department of Education declared Nov. 13-17 as International Education Week. These days have been set aside as a special time for students to recognize the true value of gaining a broad understanding of the cultures, languages and governments of other nations. Many campuses across the country join together during this time to celebrate the unique differences of other cultures and customs. Although the college kicked
off with international lectures last week on "Muslims in Arizona
and the U.S." and "Study Abroad Opportunities in Mexico,"
members of the campus and community are encouraged to take advantage of
events this week.
For more information on International Education Week activities, please contact the International Education and Student Center at (602) 285-7664.
