"Happy Holidays" Concert To Bring Cheer to Phoenix College

(PHOENIX, Ariz., Nov. 19, 2003)—Holiday time sparks nostalgic thoughts of familiar music, yummy treats and an overall feeling of joy. Experience the magic of the holidays on Sunday, December 7 when The McConnell Singers Women’s Community Choir, directed by Dan Hoopper, present their annual Happy Holidays concert of music.

Festivities begin at 2 p.m. with a bake sale, followed by the Happy Holidays concert at 3 p.m. Relax and enjoy your home baked treat while taking in the sounds of seasonal sing along songs and familiar choral pieces performed by this dedicated choir.

As musical representatives of Phoenix College, the McConnell singers give concerts for organizations, clubs, churches and community service fundraising projects. The choir has been performed in four Czech cities, Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Director, Dan Hooper, has been performing on piano since age five. Currently, he is a music faculty member at Phoenix College and teaches private piano and voice lessons. His noteworthy compositions have been published by NALR-Epoch and Santa Barbara Music Publishers and performed in New York, Chicago, San Antonio, Strasbourg and Phoenix.

The Happy Holidays concert and bake sale will take place in the Bulpitt Auditorium on the Phoenix College campus (11th Ave. and Thomas Rd.). Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and may be purchased from any of the McConnell Singers or by contacting the Phoenix College Music Department at (602) 285-7272.
