College Offers New Course on Therapeutic Environments for Dementia Care - Class Begins Jan. 13

 

(PHOENIX, Ariz., Nov. 25, 2003) - The Phoenix College Gerontology Department will offer a new course for the Spring 2004 semester entitled: Therapeutic Environments for Dementia Care. The three-credit class will meet every Tuesday from Jan. 13 through March 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

This unique course will examine design principles to create a therapeutic environment for dementia care in home and in community-based settings as well as other long term care environments. In addition, students will practice design principles, which will reduce difficult behaviors and promote quality of life.

Therapeutic Environments for Dementia Care is ideal for owners, managers and caregivers in formal care settings, aging services employees, senior housing designers, informal caregivers and individuals interested in interior design for special populations.
