Amnesty International Student Group to Recognize
National Human Rights Day


(PHOENIX, Ariz., Dec. 1, 2003) – The Phoenix College Amnesty International Student Group will host an informational event on Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sophomore Square. The event will recognize National Human Rights Day.

By hosting this event, the group hopes to bring about awareness and action concerning human rights abuses throughout the world.

Amnesty International is a worldwide human rights group with more than 1 million members, including 300,000 in the U.S. Amnesty International works to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other ill-treatment of prisoners; end political killings and disappearances; and to promote, through education and action, greater understanding and respect for human rights.

Amnesty International meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Student Life and Leadership Office.
