(PHOENIX, Ariz., May 10, 2005) - Do you hope to advance within the Maricopa Community College District? Do you seek to be challenged by new opportunities? Do you desire something new in your career? If so, the Women's Leadership Group (WLG) Mentor Program is just for you.

The WLG Mentor Program is designed to provide women in MAT, PSA, M&O, Crafts, College Safety and Specially Funded positions with an opportunity to focus on professional goals and take advantage of advancement opportunities within the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD).

During the year-long program, participants will have an opportunity to evaluate and hone their professional skills. For example, they will undertake a number of goals:

--Explore personal and professional goals and expectations;
--Discover job options and opportunities within Maricopa;
--Enhance personal and job development skills; and,
--Improve job survival techniques for succeeding in Maricopa.

In an effort to fully thrive in this program, participants will be guided by a mentor that will help her through the process by:

--Encouraging participation in internships, apprenticeships and cross-training opportunities;
--Providing a support network through regularly scheduled group activities; and,
--Providing continuing encouragement for a mentee's professional development.

The mission of the Maricopa Community Colleges Women's Leadership Group (WLG) is to provide the continuous development of a strong and supportive work environment for the diverse women of the Maricopa Community Colleges.

Participants must have been Board approved employees for at least two years.
