College Welcomes New Director of Admissions, Records & Registration

(PHOENIX, Ariz., June 6, 2005) - Phoenix College welcomes Mary Blackwell as the new Director of Admissions, Records & Registration. As the former Supervisor of Admissions, Records and Registration of Glendale Community College, Blackwell comes to Phoenix College with a wealth of expertise for this position.

For the past 16 years, she has worked at Glendale Community College, where she gained experience in the daily operations and services offered by the Admissions, Records & Registration Office. For the last six years, she has served as the supervisor of the department providing leadership for a large staff at a college with a headcount of 33,000 students a year.

In her current role at Phoenix College, she directs all phases of student admissions, registration, student records, transcripts, course rosters and related areas. Additionally, Blackwell manages Student Information System (SIS) accounts and provides training to student service employees.

The new director is very active in professional organizations. She has served as a Women's Leadership Group mentor, Admissions and Records Council Representative to the District Curriculum Committee, Admissions and Records Council Chair, as well as many others.

In addition to her professional career, Blackwell is also involved in community activities. She participates in the Salvation Army Christmas Angel Program and West Side Food Bank.

Blackwell holds a M.Ed. from Northern Arizona University, a B.A. from Arizona State University and an A.A. from Phoenix College.
