Dental Scholarships Awarded to Honor Former Instructor
During the ceremony, Lusts husband, Michael, presented the scholarships along with Debby Kurtz-Weidinger, a faculty member in the Dental Hygiene Program, to the winners. This years Denise Lust Scholarship recipients are Kim DeLeon, Fran Tocco, Shaun Walker and Jennifer Rebs, all of whom were students of Lust. In 2001, Lust graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Phoenix College at the top of her class. She was immediately hired as adjunct faculty and was highly respected by both the students and dental hygiene faculty. On April 3, 2003, Lust was killed in an automobile accident. Lust is survived by her husband and her two children, ages 11 and 15. The Dental Hygiene department plans to continue fundraising to contribute to the Denise Lust Scholarship fund.
