Student Leaders Honored at Second Annual URSA Awards Ceremony


(PHOENIX, Ariz., May 12, 2004)—Established in 2003, the Ursa Student Leadership Awards were created to celebrate the student leadership of Phoenix College. This year, 50 exceptional students were nominated by faculty and staff to receive this special recognition.

Ursa is a Latin word for bear and is reflected in the heavens by the constellations of Ursa Major (the Great Bear) and Ursa Minor (the Little Bear)—more commonly called the big and little dippers. The Ursa Awards were named to honor Phoenix College’s "bear stars."
