PC's Graphic Design Students Shine



(PHOENIX, Ariz. - March 4, 2005) --- Phoenix College graphic design students were awarded for their creativity in the OneBookAZ poster contest. Justin Messner, Michele Scheffler, and Nadine Vida were honored for excellence in their poster designs and taglines for the statewide reading program.

The three winners were selected among several entries from a number of graphic design classes at Phoenix College. Justin Messner was awarded $500 for his poster design for the adult book Sunk With out a Sound, Michele Scheffler was awarded $500 for her poster design for the children's book Frindle, and Nadine Vida won $100 for her tag line "Two Books, one piece of history."

Dale Doubleday was also awarded $500 for the Phoenix College Art Department, for assisting with the project. Laura Artusio and Cindy Ortega worked with Dale Doubleday to coordinate the student entries.

"It was a wonderful opportunity for PC design students to work in a professional capacity on a very worth while project," said Doubleday. "They will benefit not only from the experience but also from having their work displayed to the public thoughout the entire state of Arizona."

One Book Arizona is a program designed to bring communities together through literature and the shared experience of reading two different books pertaining to the same historical event. The authors of the books are scheduled for book signings and discussions at Phoenix College in April. Please see www.phoenixcollege.edu for more information pertaining to OneBookAZ.
