One Book Arizona Kick-Off
In an effort to bring communities together through literature and the shared experience of reading, Phoenix College will host a celebration of the kick-off of One Book Arizona. Authors Lisa Michaels and Brad Dimock will be present to discuss their work. The two books that have been chosen, Grand Ambition (fiction) and Sunk With Out a Sound (non-fiction), are both concerning the same piece of history. It is an adventurous, mystery/biography of newlyweds who vanished on their 1928 honeymoon river trip through the Grand Canyon. This statewide program is hosted by libraries, schools, museums, the media, commercial vendors, the authors, the public and other allied institutions to unite our communities through book discussions and signing events. It is a profound opportunity for Phoenix College students and faculty to get involved in this shared experience of the young lovers' journey.
On April 5, the One Book Arizona event will include authors Lisa Michaels and Brad Dimock. They will discuss their work and the event is located in the Dome Room, Osborn Campus from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. On April 8, "No Bigger than a Licorice Whip: The Thin Line between History and Fiction in American Literature" will include Dr. Lisa Miller discussing the various blending of and distinctions between history and fiction. This event will also include presentations from the authors Dimock and Michaels and Dr. Pete Dimas. The presentation will be held in the Green Room of the John Paul Theatre at 11:30 a.m. For additional information regarding One Book AZ and the events that have been scheduled statewide, please visit www.onebookaz.org. ### |
