Dance and Sing the Night Away with the Phoenix College McConnell Singers


(PHOENIX, Ariz. March 24, 2005) ---. The Phoenix College McConnell Singers Women's Community Choir will host their first director's dinner dance on April 16. The program will feature a variety of familiar dance tunes from the 1940s - 1970s along with D.J. Ray Pena. This event will also include special entertainment by comedian Matt Shefer.

The semi-formal occasion will be held at the Doubletree Guests Suites, at Gateway Center in Phoenix (44th St. & Van Buren).

Prior to the event, there will be a social hour at 6 p.m. serving hors-d'oeuvres followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. Entertainment will get underway at 8 p.m., and the last dance will conclude at 11 p.m. There will be favors, door prizes, and photographs presented throughout the night.

As musical representatives of Phoenix College, the McConnell singers give concerts for organizations, clubs, churches and community service fundraising projects. The choir has performed in four Czech cities, Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Director, Dan Hooper, has been performing on the piano since age five. Currently, he is a music faculty member at Phoenix College and teaches private piano and voice lessons. His noteworthy compositions have been published by NALR-Epoch and Santa Barbara Music Publishers and have been performed in New York, Chicago, San Antonio, Strasbourg and Phoenix.
