Theatre Department Captures Prestigious Awards at the Western Regional American College Theatre Festival

 


(PHOENIX, Ariz., March 9, 2004) – The Phoenix College Theatre Department captured a number of prestigious awards at the recent Western Regional American College Theatre Festival at California State University in San Bernardino.

They competed with colleges and universities from across Arizona, California, Utah and Nevada.

Awards and recognitions include:

Excellence in Theatre Education – Gary Imel
(Only seven theatre educators received this award in the entire Western Region)

Regional Finalist Production The Caretaker
(one of nine to receive the award out of 200 adjudicated productions)

Next Step Awards for Students
-Angel Armijo – acting
-Brendan Welch – acting
-Lisa Alves – stage management and prop design

Meritorious Awards for Students
-Alicia Howell – stage management, The Caretaker
-Lisa Alves – stage management, Picasso at the Lapin Agile
-Dawn Nava – stage management, Angels Fall

Accepted into the Regional Competition for Design
-Maria Garcia – sound design, The Caretaker
-Lisa Alves – prop design, The Caretaker

Accepted into the Regional Competition for Acting
-Angel Armijo
-Rene Chavez
-Andrew Hernandez
-Brendan Welch
-Neil Wright
