(PHOENIX, Ariz., March 5, 2004) - As a part of its Strategic Planning efforts, Phoenix College will be conducting a Campus Climate survey of its employees later this semester. Faculty, Adjunct Faculty, Staff, and Administrators will be queried through a confidential, anonymous survey, most likely offered in both online and paper formats.

The Climate survey is intended to capture:
-- the employees’ opinions of the atmosphere, ambiance, behaviors, structures, policies, and practices;
-- demographics of its employees;
-- attitudes and values of its staff, faculty, and leaders; and
-- the quality of personal interactions leading to a feeling of safety, value, fairness, and respect.

The Climate Committee, assembled by the Commitment to Employee Excellence Strategic Action Team (which is a division of Phoenix College’s Strategic Planning Council), is composed of personnel in positions across the college. The Climate Committee is presently in the midst of a formal Request for Proposal (or, RFP) process, through which an external firm will be selected to conduct the survey. Potential service providers will be interviewed early in March; one will then be selected to go forward with the survey project.

It is a goal of the Climate Committee to do everything possible to have selected firm conduct the survey, analyze responses, and report findings before the end of the Spring 2004 semester. Findings will be presented to the Commitment to Employee Excellence Strategic Action team for review and recommended college actions.
