Award-winning Writer to Teach Workshop at Phoenix College

(PHOENIX, Ariz., March 10, 2003)—Experience an opportunity of a lifetime when award-winning writer and teacher, Peter Levitt, hosts a writing workshop at Phoenix College on Saturday, April 17, 2004. Those interested are encouraged to reserve seats as soon as possible since this will be Levitt’s only Phoenix stop during his 2004 schedule of appearances.

Recipient of the prestigious Lannan Foundation Award in Poetry, Levitt has published eight books of poetry. He has also published fiction, journalism and translations from Chinese, Japanese and Spanish. Levitt has taught workshops in writing, creativity and spirituality in the United States and abroad for more than 30 years.

Levitt’s most recent book, Fingerpainting on the Moon, inspires writers to step out of their comfort zone and take risks when writing. Although some call it a "spiritual book on writing," Levitt has a different outlook on his book.

"I prefer to think of it as a book that draws readers toward an inherently powerful and creative source within each of us that gives rise to both spirit. . . and creative expression in all or any of its forms," explains Levitt.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the distinctive writing exercises and creative techniques developed by Peter Levitt. His techniques have taught decades of writers, artists and spiritual seekers of all kinds how to deepen their writing by stepping past obstacles and giving voice to their creative and spiritual selves.

This workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon in the Willo Room at Phoenix College Osborn campus. Although the event is free and open to the public, participants need to reserve a seat by calling (602) 285-7345.
