College Alumni Association Half-Century Club Celebrated 10th Anniversary

Local News Celebrity-Family Team

The
Phoenix College Alumni Association Half-Century Club recently celebrated
its 10th Anniversary with a family of local news celebrities as guest
and keynote speakers at their annual meeting and luncheon, which honored
all Phoenix College alumni from 1920 1953.
Joe Dana, Class of 1935 and
Phoenix College Alumni Hall of Fame member joined his son, Kent Dana news
anchor for KPNX TV and grandson, Joe Dana, Northern Arizona reporter
for KPNX TV (via video) to speak at this reunion-type event, which
was held in the Phoenix College Culinary Café.
Organized
in 1992, the Phoenix College Half-Century Club is now comprised of more
than 1,100 volunteers from across the country who either graduated or
attended the college more than 50 or more years ago. For the past 10 years,
Half-Century alumni have raised scholarship money to help send financially
disadvantaged students to Phoenix College. Members have also been actively
involved in supporting campus activities and programs such as student
mentoring and PCs new ACE Program.
The
Half-Century Club alumni celebrated their achievements and reunited at
this annual luncheon, which is the groups premiere event. It was
an afternoon of fellowship and reminiscing about college years.
The Half-Century Club also
celebrated the induction of their newest class the Class of 1953.
