The Phoenix College International

a lecture by Erich Gustav Pohl, Academic Director of the Center for the
Teaching of Foreign Languages and Cultures at the Ruprecht-Karls University
of Heidelberg.
On March 26, the lecture will
begin at 2 p.m. in the John Paul Theatre.
"Transatlantic Relations"
promises to be enlightening and timely considering our world today. Professor
Pohl will present the same lecture that he is giving to the UN Delegation
in Salt Lake City the week before he arrives in Phoenix.
Pohl has been a member of
the Pilot Project for Educational Experts/Federal Republic of Germany-Fulbright

at the University of Montana and as a visiting professor at Beijing Foreign
Studies University in China. Pohl was also an exchange professor in the
Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia and conducted
a seminar on comparative European higher education for doctoral students
in higher education.
As a sought after lecturer,
Pohl has been invited to present lectures and seminars at various universities
and colleges in the United States, France, England, Chile, Hungary, Poland
and China. Professor Pohl has made numerous contributions to books, articles
and reviews on foreign languages, western civilization, and contemporary
history. He is also a member of the committee for international relations
and studies of foreign students of the Senate of the University of Heidelberg,
and advisor for the German-French Youth Office, Bonn/Paris.
He was also a founding member
of the German Studies Association in the United States. In 1995, he was
honored by the French Government and awarded the title of an Officer dans
lordre des palmes academiques for his remarkable contributions in
the field of cultural exchanges between the Federal Republic of Germany
and France.
"I am sure faculty members
and students will benefit greatly from this information and discussion,
especially those in humanities, global and cultural awareness courses,
classical studies, ESL, languages, communication, social sciences and
counseling," said Chair of the International Education Committee
and faculty, Carol Bolton.
