Student Orientation Set for Aug. 23

The
Phoenix College Office of Recruitment and Retention will offer Previews
to Success Fall 2003, a new student orientation on Saturday, Aug. 23.
The free orientation will be jam packed with important information for
new college students and will begin at 8 a.m. in the Phoenix College Bulpitt
Auditorium.
New and continuing students
are encouraged to mark their calendars and get ready to hear the latest
strategies for college success. Previews to Success Fall 2003 will offer
a variety of workshops from teacher expectations to test taking tips.
Attendees will receive key
information that will help them succeed from the following areas:
--Advisement
--Admission and Records
--Counseling Department
--Career Center
--Campus Safety
--Financial Aid
--International Center
--Learning Center
--Math Zone
--Library
--Open Computer Lab
--Re-entry Center
--Student Life and Leadership
They will also choose two
workshops to attend. The workshops include:
--Strategies for College Success
--Scholarships
--Test Taking Strategies
--Teacher Expectations What do my teachers expect from me?
--Picking a Major and Making Career Decisions
--Learning Communities Whats in it for me?
--Services for Students with Disabilities
--Open Entry/Open Exit Courses What you need to know to be successful.
Those
attending the Fall 2003 new student orientation can take advantage of
raffle prices, campus tours and refreshments.
The event is free; however,
students must register for NC 500, Section 9000 to attend.
