Fall 2005 Orientation Set for August 13
Students Encouraged to Register Now

(PHOENIX, Ariz., July 14, 2005) - New and continuing students are encouraged to mark their calendars for the Fall 2005 Student Orientation - PC Basics: The Bear Necessities - scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13. The half-day event, which begins in Sophomore Square at 8 a.m. with an Information and Student Club Fair, will conclude at 12:30 p.m.

The free orientation will acquaint new and continuing students with a number of services available at Phoenix College through workshops and various programs.

For example, participants can choose from a number of exciting workshops that will help them become more successful students:

--Go Far, Close to Home: Get Connected!
--University Bound
--Scholarships - How to apply and be successful!
--Exploring College Majors & Making Career Decisions
--Strategies for College Success
--Support Your New College Student Mission: Possible
--Learning Communities: Computers in Education

Additionally, all attendees will receive key information on a number of student service areas including Advisement, Admission and Records, Counseling, Career Center, Financial Aid, Campus Safety, Learning Center, International Student Center, Re-Entry Center, Student Life and Leadership, Library, Math Zone and more.

At last, students will be introduced to the college's 11 core values - The PC Basics. Ranging from core values like "PC Pride" and "Commitment" to "Respect" and "Integrity," students will truly be embraced into the Phoenix College culture.

Students attending the orientation event can take advantage of raffle prizes, campus tours, and lunch.

The event is free; however, students must register for NC 500, Section 9000 to attend.
