Youth Leadership Fair Kicks Off 19th Annual HACU Conference HACU Conference to be Held at Civic Plaza
HACU's Annual Conference, which will feature the latest trends and topics through special sessions, workshops, career fairs and networking opportunities, ultimately offers a unique opportunity to share information and ideas for the best and most promising practices in the education of Hispanics. To complete this mission, HACU has identified a number of strategic goals ranging from showcasing exemplary programs and initiatives of HACU member institutions to fostering and identifying graduate opportunities for Hispanic students and graduates. The Youth Leadership Fair embraces the mission and goals of HACU, yet its agenda is more localized. Designed for local high school juniors and seniors, the fair gives student participants the opportunity to hear from educational leaders from across the United States, listen to a motivational speech by the Honorable Mary H. Murguia, U.S. District Court, learn about various financial aid options available at both community college and university levels, meet with directors of different degree and certificate programs that Phoenix College offers, interact with Phoenix College students and attend the educational and inspirational theatrical performance of The Vine by Teatro Bravo. Lunch entertainment will be provided by the Phoenix College Jazz Orchestra and there will be a surprise giveaway of laptop computers and a Phoenix College scholarship. Additionally, students will
have an opportunity to get in-depth information on a number of student
support services at Phoenix College during the many break-out sessions
available. --Advisement "This is such a wonderful learning opportunity for Latino high school juniors and seniors throughout the valley," said Dr. Anna Solley, Phoenix College Acting President. "Phoenix College is extremely excited to host the kick-off event for the 19th Annual HACU Conference. We truly value and applaud our dedication to teaching, learning and student success, and this event allows us to reach out to a number of students in an effort to prepare them for their future."
