(PHOENIX, Ariz., July 12, 2004) - Caregiver and manager training classes
for assisted living facilities will begin Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Phoenix College.
All classes are approved by the Department of Health Services and students
will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each course.
Courses must be taken in order
beginning with Supervisory Care Services.
- Supervisory Care Services
Aug. 3-6
7 a.m. 12 p.m.
The class provides
the foundation for caring for residents in assisted living facilities.
- Personal Care Services
Aug. 11-17
7 a.m. 1 p.m.
The class includes
principles of aging, common medical conditions and care of the resident
who needs assistance with activities of daily living.
(Prerequisite: Supervisory Care Services)
- Directed Care Services
Aug. 19-20
7 a.m. 1 p.m.
The course includes
principles of caring for the resident with dementia.
(Prerequisites: Supervisory Care Services and Personal Care Services)
- Management of Assisted
Living Facilities
Aug. 23-24
7 a.m. 11 a.m.
This class presents management principles and Arizona rules and regulations
for assisted living facilities.
(Prerequisites: Supervisory Care Services, Personal Care Services and
Directed Care Services)
Completion of the four certificates and appropriate work related experience
will allow the individual to take the state examination for Manager of
Assisted Living Facilities.
